U ARE NOT TO BE MESSED WITH!!!

How does the devil see you? Does he see you as a terrifying and mighty warrior of God...or does he see you as a wimp he can intimidate?
The answer to that question depends on you. Early this morning while studying and following up on the US elections, I was reading about the children of Israel and their failure to enter the Promised Land. One of the reasons for their failure is found in these words: "And we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in theirs."

Hi Friends, I just met a friend of mine that I had not seen in a while. We got talking trying to catch up with old times. Somewhere along the line he just broke down!!! I was at first scared, but as he poured out his heart, I became moved almost to tears.

BUILDING AN INNOVATIVE COUNTRY (Last Episode)

Yesterday I talked about the harshness of the weather in the temperate regions which has forced people living their them to be innovative. As a result they have built the richest countries in the world. In our country, what is in the weather that is a threat to our lives? No earthquakes, no snow, and no cold that is so bad that you cannot go out of your house.

There is an interesting discovery I made, that most of the poorest countries in the world are in the tropical regions. Most of the countries that are in the warm climates are poor excepting two that have reversed their situations in the last few decades – Hong Kong and Singapore. 

Almost all the rich countries in the world are in the temperate regions.  The first interpretation an African mind would give is that there may be a curse on people who live in the tropics, LOL. Or could it be that living in a warm climate doesn't allow one’s brain to function very well? Is it when the brain is chilled that it’s cells work properly? If we can prove this scientifically, I would make a strong case for everybody to get air conditioners, whether ‘tokunbo’ or new from anywhere, whatever the price to cool our brains so they can function properly. But I do not think that is the case, I think that the harshness of the environment in the temperate region has forced people to innovate and create things fast or else they would become extinct. Fact is when it gets so cold there that people die, when you walk on the streets and your ear freezes, your hands freeze around your bag such that you will have to warm them up to be able to stretch them. In fact, it gets so cold in some places that they do not venture out of their houses for weeks!!! Their cars are submerged in snow. If they do not think of making heaters and other means of keeping themselves warm, they will die, so it is in responding to their environment that they have to think and create things. In the process they get their minds working, and now it is a culture for them to think, innovate and create new things.

We here need to start tasking our minds, lets be creative. Look around you, identify a challenge and begin the process of proffering a solution. For most of us, we keep complaining while opportunities stare at us right to our faces.

I have a friend who gets Yam from Benue, puts up her ad on Facebook for friends to come and buy here in Abuja!!! She started small, and now she is doing well, guess what? She is a Civil Servant!!! Instead of restricting herself to her primary assignment, she identified a need and proffered a solution.

Its a Monday, so start the week as a champion that you are.

Remember what makes us all different is how we RESPOND TO LIFE differently!!!

BUILDING AN INNOVATIVE COUNTRY (2)

If we want to create wealth in this country, we have to create new products and services. Really,  it is exciting to be in this country at this time of recession because this place is still green and raw. 

If you have to compete in the developed countries, one would have to really think, and come up with things that will impress people because they have created so much already. You would also have to do heavy marketing and advertising to bring the product/services to people’s attention, because they already have so many options to choose from. Our marketing and advertising here, to a large extent are still raw. Before now, being in business simply meant running after government contracts but those days too are over. Our government has suddenly realized that as a country we will remain poor as long as we keep spending more than we earn. So our economy has to focus on earning, creating and producing rather than spending. There are several businesses that depend on only one client for survival and that is dangerous because things are changing rapidly around here. Running after contracts would no more be the definition of business in Nigeria. Business now will require creating products and services.

Beating your competition and coming out with better products and better services and ideas would be the new way of business in Nigeria. So we have to train our minds to find ways to improve people’s quality of life and add value to people.

Let it begin with you. Take your life, your career and your business to a new level. Read books. Develop new ideas. Do things in a new way and success is sure.

BUILDING AN INNOVATIVE COUNTRY (1)

When you fly over cities in the developed world, especially over farms, it is a beautiful scenery when you look down. The rows of farms are clearly marked out. When you fly over Nigeria and your plane is close to landing, take a look at the farms. They are haggard and out of order because we still use crude implements. It is so bad that if a farmer who died a hundred years ago wakes, he will go back to his farm and just continue where he stopped cos he will still remember it just the way he left it, smh.
